Emotions Can Make Memories Stick

February 11, 2015

New research from the lab of Elizabeth Phelps and colleagues, published in the journal Nature, demonstrates that when experiences are associated with emotions, the memory of related experiences can be selectively strengthened. This work has been covered by several major media outlets, including The New York Times and The New Yorker.

Dr. Phelps is a member of the Emotional Brain Institute, a joint initiative of New York University and the Nathan S. Kline Institute that aims to increase our understanding of emotions and their impact on mind and behavior.
